Service Evaluation & Repair Process Engineer (SERP)

AMM & IPC Author

Based at Daventry, Northamptonshire
Salary: TBD depending on experience

CAD-IT UK Ltd is presently seeking to fill an AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual) and IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Author role. This role will be based at the CAD-IT facility in Northamptonshire on a permanent basis. You will be working on various projects which encompasses multiple industries but primarily within Aerospace.

We are looking for someone who has had previous technical authoring experience in the aerospace industry to join the team and become involved in developing, writing and delivering technical documentation:

Expectations of this role

As the AMM & IPC Author you will be expected to author Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts Catalogues as a primary role, however other authoring deliverables across multiple industries will be required. Flexibility and dynamism are a key attribute. We use both Plain English and Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. We are looking for a candidate that has a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. To multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently. You need to write in an appropriate style depending on the intended audience for example: Technicians, Dealers, customers or staff. There will be an element of travel and some extended remote training on a customer site for familiarisation and project setup.

Pre-Sales Support

As a graduate in a relevant field, you will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the Sales Process. Electrical Diagnostics Author

Based at Gaydon, Warwickshire
Salary: TBD depending on experience

CAD-IT UK Ltd are seeking to fill an electrical diagnostic authoring role. This role will be based at a prestigious OEM in the West Midlands, on a permanent basis. You will join a team who delivers technical publications, including owner manuals, service repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and other dealer documentation.

We are looking for someone who has had previous authoring experience with electrical diagnostics to join the team and become involved in developing, writing and delivering technical documentation.

Expectations of the role:

We write technical documents, using Plain English and Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. We are looking for a candidate that has a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. To multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently.

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of program development and integration
  • Use of Microsoft Office packages
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills with all business levels, from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company
  • Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources
  • Engineering knowledge, be able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel
  • A good understanding of how to behave in a professional customer-facing environment
  • Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100) and Plain English writing

Desired but not essential:

  • If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, it would be highly beneficial
  • Experience of using 3D CAD or modelling software

Your responsibilities working as an Electrical Diagnostics Author will include:

  • Producing documents containing earth, component, connector and module locations
  • Producing pin in - pin out information, fault diagnosis flow charts and DTC helptext
  • Support of 'Description and Operation' documents and data logger information
  • Development of software tools and integration into supporting documents

Technical Author

You will join a team who delivers technical publications, including user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and dealer documentation.

We are looking for someone who has had previous technical authoring experience in the following areas to join the team and become involved in developing, writing and delivering technical documentation:

  • Aerospace industry
  • Automotive
  • Rail / Rolling Stock
  • Or experience in a similar electro-mechanical Technical Author role

Expectations of this role

We write Dealer letters, warranty documents, and so on, using Plain English and we use Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. We are looking for a candidate that has a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. To multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently. You need to write in an appropriate style depending on the intended audience for example: Dealers, customers or staff.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word (using document templates and styles)
  • Use Microsoft Excel
  • An eye for detail and accuracy in both writing and document formatting and layout
  • Write in a 'tone' for the target audience
  • Good communication skills with all business levels from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company
  • Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources
  • Strong personal skills, able to work individually and/or within a team
  • Engineering knowledge, able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel
  • A good understanding of how to behave in a customer-facing environment
  • Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team
  • If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, Adobe Illustrator, XMetaL or other relevant tools, it would be highly beneficial.

Tasks

  • Service Communications: All Dealer facing documents including Service Bulletin, Service Actions, Policy Letters, etc.
  • Warranty Documentation: Maintenance of manufacturer and aftermarket Warranty documentation.
  • Workshop Manual Procedures: Authoring procedures and using CAD modelled graphics to develop timed Workshop Manual procedures
  • Other Documentation: All other 'ad-hoc' publications as necessary. For example: Kit installation instructions, equipment operating instructions, diagnostic procedures, form design, etc.
