Application Engineer

Due to continued growth CAD-IT are searching for additional staff to support our increasing presence in the US. This Application Engineering role requires a highly competent industry professional, able to deliver a variety of support to the business and our customers.

You will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the Sales Process. Working in conjunction with the Sales Team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Expectations of the role

  • Working closely with the Sales Team, take responsibility for all aspects of the technical sale and solution including:
    • Hosting meetings and influencing the customer's technical requirements.
    • Working with customers in a consultative manner to identify compelling value propositions.
    • Using your deep technical knowledge, define a comprehensive technical solution.
    • Presenting both to users and to management level people, understanding the needs and value drivers for each audience.
    • Being responsive to customer queries while managing your time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of the Technical Publications IT landscape including Content Management, Publishing, 2D and 3D graphics.
  • Knowledge and experience with the CAD-IT product portfolio including Teamcenter PLM.
  • Specific knowledge of our target industries primarily in industrial and heavy machinery, automotive and energy.
  • Contribute to the achievement of sales, key account and overall business targets.
  • Work from home office.

Responsibilities

  • Actively maintaining a depth of product knowledge in the CAD-IT product areas.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant competitor products.
  • Identify relationship between customer pains and challenges with CAD-IT products and solutions. Listen, understand and convey customer requirements.
  • Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators and distributors.
  • Contribute to the generation and maintenance of product literature such as Value Propositions.
  • Perform technical/product training.
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases.
  • Travel to project sites to perform start-up, integration and training services.
  • Educate customers and partner organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the customer throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide and deliver product demos and presentations.
  • Provide detailed expertise in creating technical and product solutions for specified needs.
  • Significant knowledge of a product set, including:
    • competitive offerings
    • solutions enabled by the products
    • case studies of implementations
    • links to development teams and information on future product development.

Accountabilities

  • Attend customer meetings with Sales personnel to understand customer needs.
  • Bring customers up to date with CAD-IT products, services and relevant Value Propositions.
  • Design and deliver customer demonstrations to illustrate Value Propositions.
  • Contribute technical and product information in response to RFI/RFP's.
  • Run seminars and workshops for Partner organizations as required.
  • Create, present and deliver meetings/presentations/seminars and events as required.
  • Act as a technical/solution contact for customers.
  • Recognize and communicate opportunities to up-sell.
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values and financial objectives.
  • Identify customers' needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Degree in Engineering, Technical Field or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry role.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Available and willing to travel.

Preferred:

  • Customer Service or Sales Support experience.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Application programming experience.

Technical Architect

Salary: Dependent on experience
Location: Cranfield
Start: ASAP
Temporary 6 month contract

Job Role

As a Technical Architect your role will be to translate the business requirements expressed by the Business Team into technical requirements and coordinate their implementation whilst working with other technical teams and software vendors.

Key Tasks

  • Take ownership of scope, control documentation, and be able to work with developers, design teams, and operational teams to clarify requirements.
  • Effective communication of requirements / user stories to development teams.
  • Ensure that technical designs are developed that meet the requirements detailed and deliver the quality expected by NE IS and architectural standards (either by yourself or working with developers).
  • Estimation of project duration and cost requirements.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Adherence to best practices, governance and project delivery methodologies whilst delivering within the recognized quality, cost and time constraints.
  • Effective and timely project reporting to IS and Business stakeholders.
  • Adoption of an innovative approach to application software development by understanding and assessing suitability of emerging industry trends, tools, technologies and techniques.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Practical and recent experience in an enterprise systems development or system design role within a class-leading organization.
  • Ability to understand technical frameworks and architecture implemented on different platforms and apps (Databases / Web / Cloud).
  • Practical experience at designing interfaces and assessing data between systems.
  • Good understanding of the application development process including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/ technologies, release/version control, testing and deployment.
  • First-hand and demonstrable experience of delivering solutions using the systems development lifecycle in a large and complex organization.
  • Some experience of managing Projects (small/medium sized) would be a benefit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to quickly establish effective working relationships.
  • High level of attention to detail, especially covering requirements, design, code validation and testing.
  • Proven ability to meet goals in dynamic, fast changing environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time.

IT Support Engineer

Salary: Dependent on experience
Location: Bedfordshire
Start: ASAP
Initial temporary contract: 9-12 months, with the possibility of extension beyond 12 months

Background

Due to an increased workload in supporting and maintaining a large number of workstations and laptops, we are looking for an IT Support Engineer to become part of an engaging and supportive team.

These devices run a wide range of automotive R&D software on a mixed Operating system environment.

Key Tasks

  • IT / IS Support for "on" and "off" network workstations and laptops
  • Security patching and antivirus updating of workstations and laptops
  • Upgrade of Operating systems and software install and maintenance
  • PC hardware infrastructure support

Education

  • Degree or Apprenticeship in a relevant field

Key Skills

  • Must be good all round IT capable
  • Strong Windows 7 / XP experience
  • Good working knowledge of Windows Server environment (Windows 2003 and above)
  • Strong communication
  • Full Driving License

Desirable experience/Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certification or equivalent industrial qualification

Teamcenter Consultant

Location: Midlands/London/M1 Corridor
Based: Working from home but must be available for travel in the UK and abroad
Status: Full time permanent employee preferred. Contract considered for the right candidate

CAD-IT is a dynamic consulting company based in the UK with a global reach, focusing primarily on Service Lifecycle Management (SLM). We are presently seeking a Teamcenter Consultant to work with our SLM team. In this role you will be a subject matter expert in Siemens Teamcenter. You will have substantial experience of using the Siemens Teamcenter tools, from administration, configuration, development, and upgrades. You must be a highly competent industry professional, able to support the business and our customers by delivering a variety of services.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the PLM/SLM team providing support across both groups. Responsibilities also include working with the business during requirement capturing, and delivering cost effective, supportable technical application solutions that meet the business's plans.

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter, ideally from v10 upwards
  • Experience of customization and a knowledge of Active Workspace
  • Working knowledge of PDM/PLM implementations
  • Experience in Teamcenter Unified/Engineering architecture, BMIDE, Stylesheet configurations and CAD Data Management
  • Oracle and Systems admin experience
  • Experience of Information Systems and Server/Client Infrastructure
  • Experience of supporting software implementations and upgrades
  • User helpdesk experience

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good UNIX and Windows server/client skills
  • Awareness of WMWare Environment

Technical Author

Based at Gaydon, Warwickshire
Salary: TBD depending on experience

CAD-IT UK Ltd is presently seeking to fill a Technical Author role. This role will be based with a prestigious OEM in the West Midlands, on a permanent basis. You will join a team who delivers technical publications, including user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and dealer documentation.

We are looking for someone who has had previous technical authoring experience in the following areas to join the team and become involved in developing, writing and delivering technical documentation:

  • Aerospace industry
  • Automotive
  • Rail / Rolling Stock
  • Or experience in a similar electro-mechanical Technical Author role

Expectations of this role

We write Dealer letters, warranty documents, and so on, using Plain English and we use Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. We are looking for a candidate that has a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. To multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently. You need to write in an appropriate style depending on the intended audience for example: Dealers, customers or staff.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word (using document templates and styles)
  • Use Microsoft Excel
  • An eye for detail and accuracy in both writing and document formatting and layout
  • Write in a 'tone' for the target audience
  • Good communication skills with all business levels from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company
  • Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources
  • Strong personal skills, able to work individually and/or within a team
  • Engineering knowledge, able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel
  • A good understanding of how to behave in a customer-facing environment
  • Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team
  • If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, Adobe Illustrator, XMetaL or other relevant tools, it would be highly beneficial.

Tasks

  • Service Communications: All Dealer facing documents including Service Bulletin, Service Actions, Policy Letters, etc.
  • Warranty Documentation: Maintenance of manufacturer and aftermarket Warranty documentation.
  • Workshop Manual Procedures: Authoring procedures and using CAD modelled graphics to develop timed Workshop Manual procedures
  • Other Documentation: All other 'ad-hoc' publications as necessary. For example: Kit installation instructions, equipment operating instructions, diagnostic procedures, form design, etc.
