CAD-IT have a vacancy for an Automotive Serviceability Engineer – Hybrid, Electric Vehicle (EV) and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to join a friendly and collaborative team who develop, write and deliver technical documentation for a well-known Automotive OEM.We are looking for Mechanical / Automotive Engineers or Technicians to become part of an established team in an Upstream Service environment at a major OEM. This opportunity is a perfect entry level role for graduate engineers or Vehicle Technicians with Hybrid and EV experience, looking to find a way into the automotive design and manufacturing industry.
Role Details:
- Representing the Service organisation to the design engineering communities and project-managing
serviceability participation in the product development lifecycle. - Benchmarking of competitors for serviceability and cost of ownership.
- Ensure Vehicle Design serviceability targets are achieved through CAD assessment, design control
meetings and physical reviews in line with set targets. - Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with engineers to feedback
potential serviceability issues. - Work closely with vehicle engineers to ensure that serviceability targets are understood and met.
- Identify and support the development of Special Service Tools (SST).
- Achieve warranty cost savings through serviceability improvements.
- Aim to achieve serviceability breakdown of components through workstreams with Engineering to
support Aftersales.
Person Specification:
• Vehicle workshop experience is key – the role involves replicating workshop service operations in a
digital engineering environment so having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is
a must.
• Prior experience working on hybrid and electric vehicles and internal combustion engines would be
highly beneficial! For example inspecting, maintaining and repairing vehicles to ensure safety.
• Knowledge of Hybrid, EV and ICE automotive components.
• Analytical skills and experience of troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential – you’ll be working directly with our
customers.
• A tenacious and can-do approach is imperative, as well as a consideration for health and safety, risks
and accessibility.
• Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is
helpful. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the role. We will provide
training on all Technical Authoring software if needed!
• First class organisational and project management skills; your responsibilities will include
understanding and implementing how your work interacts with a vehicle programme’s product
development lifecycle.
• Good problem solving and evaluation techniques.
• Degree or relevant/applicable experience.
• Full Driving License.
• Confidently creating and delivering serviceability assessment results to key stakeholders.
