Diagnostics Author

CAD-IT UK Ltd are seeking to fill a Diagnostics Author role. Working with a prestigious OEM in the Midlands you will join our Technical Publications team to create and deliver diagnostic solutions which enable the global dealer network to identify and resolve vehicle faults.

We are looking for someone who has experience with vehicle diagnostics and a basic understanding of electronic systems to join the team and become involved in writing, developing and delivering diagnostic documentation.

Expectations of this role:

As a Diagnostics Author, you will be expected to support all aspects of diagnostic technical authoring, testing and solution development. We are looking for candidates who have attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. The ability to multitask and balance frequently changing priorities is essential.

Essential Skills:

SERP Engineer (Service Evaluation & Repair Process)

We are looking for a Mechanical/Automotive Engineer or Master Technician to become part of an established team in an Upstream Service environment at a major OEM. This opportunity is a perfect entry level role for graduate engineers or Master Technicians looking to find a way into the automotive design and manufacturing industry.

Key tasks

  • Undertaking Virtual service assessments of new vehicle and powertrain designs with a view to ensuring serviceability in line with customer requirements.
  • Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with Service specialists to feedback potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers.
  • Representing the Service organisation to the design engineering communities and project-managing SERP participation in the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide support for special tool development.

Education

Key Skills

  • Vehicle workshop experience is key. SERP analysis in essence involves replicating workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. Having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is a must.
  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential. All of our engineers work directly with our customers. A tenacious and can-do approach to our (and their) business is imperative, as well as a consideration for health and safety, risks and accessibility.
  • Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is helpful. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role of a SERP Engineer, but we do offer training in these areas.

Responsibilities

You will produce multiple guides specifically for the owner. These guides are written in a different style and have more detail over what is provided for a technician because fundamentally the information needs to be written for users of all skill levels. These documents are written in plain English and would be translated into multiple languages and formats.

The purpose of owner literature is to inform the user how to use systems, understand symbols, complete procedures the owner may be required to perform, provide contact details, technical information, service details and vehicle recovery information (supplied to the recovery agent).

Your responsibilities working as a Owner Content Author will include:

  • Owner Manual - this is the main publication from which the others can be derived, printed and digitally delivered, in all required languages
  • Owner Literature Supplement - this is a separate document which is created after the original Owner Manual is published with any change content, in all required languages
  • Quick Start Guide (QSG) - this is a small and short document which has very basic function information required for the user to operate the vehicle safely in the initial period with the vehicle, printed delivery, in all required languages
  • Service Record - required in some countries without (OSH) online service history, printed delivery, multiple languages

AMM & IPC Author

CAD-IT Inc are looking to fill an AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual) and IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Authoring/Illustrator role. The role will be based at a customer facility in North Carolina, USA on a permanent basis and will include working on various projects, encompassing multiple industries, but primarily within Aerospace.

The desired candidate will have had previous technical authoring experience in the aerospace industry to join the current team and become involved in developing, writing, and delivering 3D and 2D technical content from client source data:

Expectations of this role

As an AMM & IPC Author your primary role will be the authoring of Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts Catalogues, however other authoring deliverables (across multiple industries) may also be required.

A flexible and dynamic attitude to the tasks assigned will be a key attribute using both Plain English and Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. You will need to write in an appropriate style depending on the intended audience for example: Technicians, Dealers, customers, or staff. There will be an element of travel and some extended remote training on a customer site for familiarisation and project setup. The ability to multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently.
