The Sales/Business Development professional will take ownership of their territory and proactively deliver on sales and business development KPIs

IPC Technical Author/Illustrator - Aerospace

IPC Author/Illustrator

CAD-IT UK Ltd is presently seeking to fill an IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Illustrator/Author role. This role will be based at the CAD-IT facility in Northamptonshire on a permanent basis. You will be working primarily within Aerospace.

We are looking for someone who has had previous technical illustration and authoring experience in the aerospace industry to join our team and become involved in developing compiling and delivering technical illustrated documentation:

Expectations of this role

As an IPC Technical Illustrator/Author you will be expected to author Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogues as a primary role, however other authoring deliverables across multiple industries may be required.  You must have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills, be able to interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way, and have the ability to multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently.

An element of travel and some extended remote training on a customer site for familiarisation and project setup will be required.

Essential Skills

  • Experience of authoring in an Aerospace environment.
  • ATA 2200 (Dita) and associated Aerospace standards

This opportunity is a perfect entry level role for graduate engineers or Master Technicians looking to find a way into the automotive design and manufacturing industry.

Key tasks

  • Undertaking Virtual service assessments of new vehicle and powertrain designs with a view to ensuring serviceability in line with customer requirements.
  • Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with Service specialists to feedback potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers.
  • Representing the Service organisation to the design engineering communities and project-managing SERP participation in the product development lifecycle.

Education

You will become part of a larger team that provides service and systems evaluation, and delivers a range of technical publications, such as user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, illustrated parts catalogues, electrical, mechanical and diagnostic information and other essential dealer communications.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in a technical authoring role, or with writing and delivering similar textual and graphical based documentation of a technical nature.
  • Knowledge or experience of media creation/editing tools, to create training videos is desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience of Simplified Technical English (STE) is desirable.

You will be validating, proving and quality checking diagnostic procedures written and developed by the diagnostic authoring team before they are released for publishing.

Expectations of this role

As a Validation Technician, you will be expected to support all aspects of the quality and validation process. You will support the diagnostic authors testing and solution development using the hardware and diagnostic software program of the OEM. We are looking for candidates who have attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. The ability to multitask and balance frequently changing priorities is essential.

Essential Skills

  • Use of Microsoft Office packages
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • Ability to diagnose faults in a logical and concise manner
  • Good communication skills with all business levels, from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company
  • A good understanding of how to behave in a professional customer-facing environment
  • Automotive knowledge; be able to read and understand OEM wiring diagrams
  • Main dealer or manufacture experience
  • Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team

Experience and Background Skills Desired

  • Qualified Technician (Diagnostic/ Master Technician level)
  • Or Graduate/ Engineer with good automotive background

Desired but not essential

  • Diagnostics authoring experience
  • Trained in Simplified Technical English
  • VAG experience
  • Electric Vehicle experience or certification

Your responsibilities working as an Validation Technician will include the following:

  • To validate authored solutions for complex electrical faults based on an initial symptom / DTC
  • Validate and test special equipment, hardware and software
  • Record, report and make suggestion to the Diagnostics Authors regarding possible improvement of the procedures
