SERP Engineer

SERP Engineer

Based in Daventry, Northamptonshire

Salary: Dependent on experience

CAD-IT UK Ltd is seeking to fill a Service Evaluation and Repair Process (SERP) Engineer role. This role will be based at the CAD-IT facility in Northamptonshire on a permanent basis, working with an established Technical Publications team.

At the most basic level, SERP Engineers are responsible for examining digital CAD models on new vehicle programmes and working with service specialists to feed back potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers. The role is bigger than this, however. It also involves representing the Service organisation to design engineering communities and project-managing SERP participation in the product development lifecycle. As such, working as a SERP Engineer is a challenging role that requires familiarity with cars, excellent customer-facing skills, adept and fast learning computer literacy and first class personal organisation.

SERP serviceability analyses begin years before a prototype vehicle has ever been built. Service success is measured in terms of reduced warranty costs and increased competitiveness for our customers’ vehicles in the fleet market. One means to improve competitiveness is to minimise the labour cost of routine maintenance and high frequency non-routine repair operations. In this context, SERP plays a key role in the identification of design characteristics compromising service targets for a range of service repair operation times.

Our ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Hands on vehicle workshop experience is key. SERP analysis involves replicating workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. Having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is a must.
  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential. All of our engineers work directly with our customers. A tenacious and can-do approach to business is imperative.
  • Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is helpful. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role, but we do offer training in these areas.
  • First class organisational and project management skills; you will need to be organised because in time your responsibilities will include understanding and implementing how SERP will interact with a vehicle programme’s product development lifecycle.
  • Ambition; we want you to be an active participant in a team focused on the quick development of skills that will enable CAD-IT to grow as a business.
  • An excellent aptitude for written English.

Starting salary and supporting benefits are very competitive and, joining CAD-IT UK, you will be working within an engaging and supportive team environment which places clear focus on your needs and aspirations.
