Who are we looking for?
As a Multi-project Technical Author, you will be joining the business delivering technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial, construction, and agricultural manufacturing customers. We are looking for candidates with relevant qualifications and/or experience in related vehicle engineering, electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, body repair or technical documentation fields.
Must haves:
- You must have experience or confidence in dealing with automotive electrical and/or mechanical systems and other technical information
- Flexible with the ability to multi-task, work proactively, independently and manage multiple projects is essential
- A knowledge of XML, HTML, MS O365 programmes (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project), CAD modelling software and CMS systems is a distinct advantage
- The ability to conduct yourself professionally in a customer facing environment, and to liaise confidently with engineers and senior management is important
- Pragmatic and imaginative and with the ability to think laterally in solving problems and delivering solutions is essential
- Confidence, enthusiasm and passion for the role.
The Role:
The Multi-project Technical Author role focuses on one or more of the following workstreams:
- 3D electrical and/or guided diagnostic information or flows
- Text and illustration based service communications
- 2D CAD illustrated workshop manual and/or process engineering
- Serviceability Evaluation and Repair Processes
- 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues
- 2D Illustrated eLearning Modules
- The author must undertake R&D, confirm requirements, interrogate technical data, drawings, diagrams, CAD models and other information
- Liaise with engineers to confirm details and achieve sign-off, and liaise with customer representatives to manage project deadlines and expectations

We are looking for an experienced XML Developer to join our global Services team. The successful candidate will be trained to be a subject matter expert in CAD-IT products and software solutions. You must be a competent industry professional, able to support our Solutions Architects and our global customers by delivering a variety of services with quality code.
Expectations of the role

Qualifications and Experience
- XML Development: 3+ years

The role is to be part of a development team producing applications supporting the business. Applicants must have experience of working to a full project lifecycle, from specification to release, solution maintenance and bug fixing.
The successful candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of:
- XSLT 3
- XPath 3.1
- XQuery 3.1
- XML Databases (such as eXist DB, Marklogic, BaseX or NoSQL)
It would be beneficial for the candidate to have the following
- XSL-FO
- XForms
- XProc
- XML vocabularies such as DITA, S1000D and DocBook

CAD-IT have a vacancy for a SERP Engineer (Service Evaluation & Repair Process Engineer) to join a friendly and collaborative team who develop, write and deliver technical documentation for a well-known Automotive OEM.
We are looking for Mechanical / Automotive Engineers or Master Technicians to become part of an established team in an Upstream Service environment at a major OEM. This opportunity is a perfect entry level role for graduate engineers, or Master Technicians looking to find a way into the automotive design and manufacturing industry.
Role Details:
- Undertaking virtual service assessments of new vehicle and powertrain designs with a view to ensuring serviceability in line with customer requirements.
- Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with Service specialists to feedback potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers.
- Representing the Service organisation to the design engineering communities and project-managing SERP participation in the product development lifecycle.
- Provide support for special tool development.
Person Specification:
- Vehicle workshop experience is key. SERP analysis involves replicating workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. Having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is a must.
- Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential – you will be working directly with our customers.
- A tenacious and can-do approach is imperative, as well as a consideration for health and safety, risks and accessibility.
- Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is helpful. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role of a SERP Engineer. We will provide training on all Technical Authoring software if needed!
- First class organisational and project management skills; your responsibilities will include understanding and implementing how your work will interact with a vehicle programme’s product development lifecycle.
- Degree or relevant/applicable experience.
- Full Driving License.
- While not essential, creating and delivering presentations to the customer would be a great skill to bring to the role.

We are presently seeking to fill a Body Repair SERP (Service Evaluation and Repair Process) Engineer role within an established team working with a major automotive OEM in an Upstream Service environment. This opportunity is perfect for an enthusiastic, passionate and process driven Graduate Engineer, or individuals with other similar experience or learning credentials, with good IT skills and first-hand experience of automotive workshop body repairs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Undertaking Virtual service assessments of new vehicle and powertrain designs with a view to ensuring serviceability in line with customer requirements.
- Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with Service specialists to feedback potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers.
- Representing the Service organisation as the ‘customers’ voice’ to the design engineering communities, and project-managing Body SERP participation in all stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Providing support for special tool development.
Your Skills and Experience
- Vehicle workshop experience is key. Body SERP analysis in essence involves replicating workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. A good understanding of the latest vehicle technologies and having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is a must.
- Experience of vehicle diagnosis and repair and a broad knowledge of vehicle systems and workshop practices.
- Excellent communication and a customer focussed approach are essential. All of our engineers work directly with our customers, so a tenacious and can-do attitude towards our (and their) business is imperative, as well as consideration for health and safety, risks and accessibility.
- Excellent computer skills are required, and experience of working in the 3D digital environment would be a bonus. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role of a Body SERP Engineer, and we do offer training in these areas.
- First class project management skills and excellent organisation are key – your responsibilities will include implementing and understanding how your work will interact with a vehicle programme’s product development lifecycle.
