We are seeking to fill a Workshop Manual Technical Author role.


You will join a friendly and innovative team working with a global automotive manufacturer to deliver technical
publications, including user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated
parts catalogues and dealer documentation.


This opportunity is perfect for an enthusiastic, passionate and process driven Graduate Engineer (or individuals
with other similar learning credentials) with good IT skills and first-hand experience of automotive workshop
repairs


What you’ll be doing:

  • Analysing and documenting repair processes using CAD data and SRTD (Service Repair Time Database);
  • Liaising as necessary with SST (Special Service Tool) developers, upstream service coordinators,
    automotive engineers, technicians and After Sales personnel to properly scope a given repair method;
  • Time each service repair procedure using a selection of synthetic time elements;
  • Using Cortona3D RapidAuthor tools with CAD data to create 3D animations to support each step of the
    procedure. These are then uploaded to the portal where they can be aligned with correct steps;
  • On the rare occasions where it is not possible to generate a procedure digitally then the author may be
    required to conduct a trial on a pre-production vehicle to make sure that methods are accurate and timed
    correctly.
  • Author Easy Repair Guide for the owners that would like to do the basics on the vehicle themselves.
    Your Skills and Experience
  • Hands-on vehicle workshop experience is key. Workshop Manual authoring in essence involves replicating
    workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. Having a feel for realistic work
    parameters in service operations is a must.
  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential. All our engineers work directly with our
    customers. A tenacious and can-do approach is imperative.
  • Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is helpful.
    Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role of a Workshop
    Manual Technical Author, but we do offer training in these areas.
  • First class organisational and project management skills; you will need to be organised because in time
    your responsibilities will include understanding and implementing how your work will interact with a
    vehicle programme’s product development lifecycle.

Expectations of this role:

As a Vehicle Diagnostic Author, you will be expected to support all aspects of diagnostic technical authoring, testing and solution development. We are looking for candidates who have attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. The ability to multitask and balance frequently changing priorities is essential.

Essential Skills:

· Understanding of program development and integration

· Use of Microsoft Office packages

· An eye for detail and accuracy

· Ability to diagnose faults in a logical and concise manner

· Good communication skills with all business levels, from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company

· Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources

· Engineering knowledge: be able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel

· A good understanding of how to behave in a professional customer-facing environment

· Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team

Desired but not essential:

  • Trained in Simplified Technical English
  • Diagnostics authoring experience
  • Experience of using 3D CAD or modelling software

Responsibilities:

  • To support the diagnosing of complex faults based on an initial symptom / DTC
  • To determine and author the process workflow required to resolve faults which will be implemented into a guided diagnostics system
  • Manage and publish the content for intended use by dealer / technician
  • Liaise with engineering stakeholders to gather information

    Key Responsibilities

    content, where necessary contacting the submitting Dealer Technician to review data to enhance

  • Liaise with Client Services to prioritise technical resolution of critical customer cases

    Who We’re Looking For
    Qualifications and Experience:

CAD-IT are seeking a Lead Engineer to join the Aftersales Problem Solving team providing technical support
and assistance to a top automotive OEM worldwide dealer network.


Role Objectives:

  • This role carries significant responsibility for coordinating processes that enable the identification,
    prioritisation, definition, and effective handover of issues reported from the field
  • Defining metrics, processes, and systems necessary to ensure the efficient and effective identification of
    issues arising from the field are also a key part of the role
  • Serving as the voice of the customer, the Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring that key field issues
    are successfully pursued to resolution. You will also hold accountability for making critical decisions
    regarding the need for Field Service Actions.
  • Responsibility for defining and preparing reporting of field issue metrics to senior management level.
    Key Responsibilities & Tasks
  • Lead the processing of incoming field reports from the global dealer network; define the processes and
    systems used and manage day-to-day operations of incoming field reports such as Product Defect
    Reports (PDRs) and PDI and Warranty data
  • Identification and prioritisation of key field issues to escalate based on customer impact, vehicle downtime
    and warranty cost through data driven approach.
  • Oversee successful definition, handover and acceptance of field/customer issues through to resolution
  • Lead or support cross function problem solving teams and ensure field issues are resolved by the business
    in a timely fashion and appropriately escalate substandard progress
  • Define and produce key metrics to report the key field issues and customer impact through regular
    reporting.
  • Represent Aftersales and Voice-of-Customer in cross functional forums up to Quality Committee
  • Responsible for verifying resolution of field issues is successful (reporting of VIN breaches)
  • Identification and appropriate escalation of urgent, critical issues reported from field reports
  • Represent Aftersales in Technical Review Group (TRG) meetings
  • Decide or make recommendation on the need to conduct Field Service Actions to improve customer
    satisfaction and reduce warranty spend.
  • Monitor, report and drive completion of active Field Service Actions
  • Act as conduit for collating regional field feedback and ensuring issue resolution status is fed back to the
    Regions.

CAD-IT are seeking a Service Communications Author who will be the link between engineering and the Aftersales dealer network. Following the launch of new vehicles, technical scenarios are identified by engineering and communicated to the Service Communications team, should the dealer network require notification. You will be responsible for understanding, developing and authoring technical documentation with a particular focus on the end consumers within the dealer network.

You will join a business who deliver technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial, construction and agricultural manufacturing customers.

We are interested in dynamic, engaging individuals with relevant qualifications and/or experience in related software engineering, vehicle and master technician, electrical integration, mechanical, diagnostic, or technical documentation fields.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong automotive system knowledge and hands on experience is a must. Electric and Hybrid knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Highly detail orientated and able to prepare technical documentation to exacting quality standards.
